I was chuffed to be nominated for a Liebster Award this week by Let's Stay Home, Mom (thank you!) - even though I had no idea what it was, it sounded like a good thing!!

If, like me, you’ve never heard of the Liebster Award, it's all about sharing some blog-love with other newbie bloggers and boosting our blog profiles. It’s a great way to introduce you, my fab readers, to some awesome new blogs you may not have come across, and it’s also an opportunity for you to learn a bit more about me. I’m happy to be able to help some other newbie bloggers, and I’m very grateful for Let's Stay Home, Mom for nominating me.

Each nominee has to follow 6 simple rules:

Here are the answers to the 11 questions that Let's Stay Home, Mom set for me:

1. What is your inspiration for your blog?
   I started my blog to share some of the things that I’ve learnt over the last 17 months about living dairy and soy free due to my son’s cow’s milk and soy protein intolerance (CMPI). I also like to tell stories about my kids – I think they’re pretty funny :).
2. How long have you been blogging?
   3 months
3. What is your favorite movie of all times? 
   This is a really tricky one… I’d have to say it’s a tie between Pulp Fiction, Dirty Dancing and the two final Harry Potter films. I don’t watch many movies these days, I’m likely to fall asleep!
4. Where would you go on your dream vacation?
   Bora Bora!! Or, if the kids were coming, Fiji or Thailand.
5. What is your favorite food?
   I’m currently following the Paleo lifestyle, which is gluten, grain, dairy, legume and refined sugar free, so my diet is a bit restricted! Current fave food is Against All Grain’s paleo waffles. And I love a really spicy curry! My kryptonite is potato crisps; I just can’t stop at one or two and will eat the whole bag once I start. So it’s best not to start!
6. What is the hardest job you ever had?
   Motherhood! Ha ha. No, but seriously, while I was at uni I worked as a security guard at a nightclub (AKA the “door bitch”!) - that was a pretty hard and horrible job, I certainly wouldn’t want to do it again.
7. Do you have any pets?
   Not at the moment. I had dogs and cats as a kid, but didn’t think much of the cats to be honest! I would love for our family to get a dog, but we’re currently renting so that’s not really an option for the moment.
8. What advice would you give your younger self?
   Stop comparing yourself to everyone else! Just crack on and do your own thing.
9. What is your favorite pastime?
   I don’t get a lot of free time for hobbies at the moment, what with two little people to look after and a fairly demanding job. Currently most of my free time is spent on this blog! I love to have a few drinks with Mr McD or catch up with girlfriends over a vino or two, and just people watch. I like to make up stories about the people I see go by.
10. What is your favorite candy?
    I’m more of a savoury girl, but I do love a really rich, dark chocolate (dairy- and soy-free of course!).
11. What is your favorite season of the year?
    I enjoy late winter/early spring the most. I’m in Sydney, Australia, and that time of year is just beautiful – fresh, crisp mornings, bright sunny days with low humidity and just a touch of warmth in the air. And it’s also my birthday!

1. I didn’t get my driver’s licence until I was 34 years old, and 5 months pregnant. 
2. My left leg is 2cm shorter than my right.
3. I can’t wear high heels (due to an old ankle injury).
4. My favourite colour is purple, and I’m a little bit obsessed with it.
5. I went to the same high school as Nicole Kidman.
6. I love to sing 80’s power ballads really loudly in the car.
7. I ate my placenta.
8. Mr McD and I got married in a pub.
9. I go to sleep listening to Stephen Fry read Harry Potter every night.
10. I love red wine.
11. My guilty secret addiction is clichéd American procedural dramas (Bones, NCIS, Law & Order SVU, etc).
